The Grosse Ile Community Sailing Foundation provides a way for individuals to support the sailing experience in the downriver Michigan community and receive the tax benefit of a charitable contribution. The GICSF is a state and federally incorporated non-profit 501c3 charitable organization, and we accept contributions of cash, stocks and securities, as well as boats, trailers or other equipment in good condition.

Are you 70.5 years old with an lRA and RMD? A QCD (Qualified Charitable
Distribution) is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA custodian, Payable to a
Qualified charity. A QCD excludes the amount donated from your taxable
income. While you don’t get a write-off for your gift, you also don’t owe taxes on
that retirement-account distribution. Funneling a $500 RMD to charity saves
$110 for a taxpayer in the 22% tax bracket the same as if you had been able to
deduct it. ′
How do i transfer the donation as a QCD from my IRA to the GICSF?
Have a QCD check from your IRA custodian made out to the Grosse Ile Community Sailing Foundation before December 31 and have it mailed to vou. You can then send it with your donation form to the GICSF・ That way we know who made the donation and we can send you an official donation receipt that you can report as a normal distribution on IRS Form lO99-R. A QCD is not subject to federal withholding. State tax laws may vary, so for guidance, consult a tax advisor.
